Born on February 14, 1995, in The Woodlands, Texas, Matthew Garrett Champion is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter known for his role in the hip-hop collective Brockhampton. Champion's music career took off in 2014 when he joined Brockhampton, contributing to their success with albums like Saturation (2017) and Ginger (2019). Following Brockhampton's hiatus in 2022, Champion released his debut solo album, Mika's Laundry, in March 2024, featuring collaborations with artists like Dijon and Jennie.

With a mix of Japanese American heritage, Matt Champion's journey in music began during his high school years in The Woodlands, where he started rapping and connected with future Brockhampton members like Kevin Abstract and Merlyn Wood.
